Spring In The Tetons
Spring in the Tetons. I waited for sunset at this pond just enjoying the solitude. A beaver swam across multiple times, baby ducks learned to navigate the waters, birds chirped, the grass rustled, the clouds were dynamic creating all sorts of lighting...it was beautiful to just stop and soak it all up. One of my favorite parts of landscape photography is the patience necessary. You end up really appreciating a place more and notice the complexities of the ecosystem going on every moment.

Blue Door
Rich turquoise deposits are found throughout New Mexico. The natives adorn their pueblos, art and clothing with these brilliant hues. Juxtaposed with the warm earth tones of the desert and clay adobe walls, these complimentary clashes beautifully craft their way into the cultural and physical landscape and overall artistic imagination. It's no wonder they call this The Land Of Enchantment.
Interestingly, it was blue doors that started my venture into photography. My first photo that I took with intention that I really liked, albeit on a cell phone...was of 3 blue doors on a historic street in San Blas barrio in Cusco, Peru. While thousands of miles apart, it's strikingly powerful to see so many commonalities between the two, and it's no wonder I am drawn to these areas nestled in the mountains, deeply rooted in history, vibrancy and a particular genuineness that speaks to me.
Shoshone

Mormon Row
The T. A. Moulton Barn is arguably the most photographed barn in the U.S. The Tetons tower behind and capture the spirit of the American west. In the early 1900s, Mormons in Salt Lake City sent out parties around the west to establish communities and promote their faith. It took Thomas Alma almost 30 years to build this barn near Kelly, Wyoming. Getting a photo that felt unique to me is a bit trying here; however, this is what I came up with. It is a slightly different angle than the common photo you see when Google searching the barn or the Tetons.

This kiddo was climbing fallen trees barefoot in Fern Canyon, California Interacting in nature and soaking it up. He had his camera in hand and was studying and taking photos of the fern laden walls. I asked him if he'd like me to hold his camera bag. As he carefully lowered it down to me, I saw his foot dangling. I asked him if I could snap a photo. Weird request huh? He replied...''uh...sure.' It was a fleeting moment that reminded me of my childhood and reckless pursuit of exploring every nook and cranny. A poignant reminder that the best prescription for better health is more barefoot running around in the forest.

Supervisors of Selma, Alabama . An epicenter of the Civil Rights movement. Such a powerful place to be. These two brothers were sitting outside one afternoon just watching the day go by and according to them, 'supervising' as their buddies washed clients cars at an auto shop. They were salt of the earth guys. Gregarious, amicable and comforting. They shared a bit of history with us and smiled when chatting about President Obama visiting. They have had a front seat to so much social change. When traveling, its people like these two that make an experience all the richer and more valuable. Whether you are in your neighborhood, another state or around the world, take time to engage with those around you. It's what true wealth looks like. Thank you gentleman, and keep on supervising.
