Missing Home

A cart vendor who appears to be sleeping is actually repeatedly picking up and dropping coca leaves into her lap and intermittently blowing on them offering gratitude for Pachamama (Mother Earth). All awhile, a big festival was going on nearby, but yet she was in her own world. It's easy to pass a scene like this and not even notice the woman nor the cart, but stopping and watching her for 20 minutes taught me a lot about how long the days must be for her, and how she probably hails from the countryside but has to make her business in the city and suffers from deep ennui away from the fields and mountains she deeply loves
