Born to Wander
I was born to wander. My soul comes alive when I head out on the open road before sunrise. Everything goes quiet. A complete sense of presence and purpose sets in. Joy and gratitude are cultivated. You see, photography doesn’t just happen. Sure, I could take a pretty photo with understandings of composition and light and the technical aspects, but without the right creative headspace and passion, the most important aspect of all is missing. Feeling. That’s what makes special art. The emotive connections to the world around us and how to somehow capture or portray those. I was in a creative rut for quite awhile lately. My amazing supportive girlfriend was and always is super empathetic to that. She encourages me to get out there. Sometimes I need that spark because getting out there with my camera is cathartic, and I’m a better person and partner when I make this time. You can’t force it though. I’m learning to embrace to creative ruts. It teaches me growth and without these times, I don’t think I’d be as connected or passionate to my craft...but when that moment comes to hop in my truck and hit the open road, it sure does feel damn good to feel the blood flow through my veins, to embrace the giddiness, and to carry on with deep feelings of purpose.
